Everybody loves a good hack nowadays.  I love to read the hundreds of life hacks available.  They are so helpful in saving time, and making different activities a lot easier.  Since business can sometimes get in the way of having a consistent quality quiet time with the Lord, I have decided to share 5 quick hacks with you to make your priority time a lot easier.

1.GO TO BED WITH YOUR BIBLE OPEN.

Going to be with your Bible open is a great hack for those who have morning quiet times, or a consistent study location. Choose a quiet place, and open your bible to the passage that you are studying.  Make sure you put out your notebook, pens, and any supplementary materials that you need to enrich your time with the Lord.

2. USE SERMONS TO DEEPEN YOUR UNDERSTANDing OF THE BIBLE AND KEEP YOUR FOCUS.

If you find that your mind wanders too much during your priority, then you should try watching sermons. They normally can grab your attention for a long period of time and keep you active through note taking. There are so many available on church websites and YouTube.  I recommend investing in Right Now Media, as it includes questions and short videos that you can use to go deeper in the word.

3. MAKE A PLAN

Having a plan for when you study makes for a more productive quiet time with the Lord.  Follow the same routing each day as you sit down with the Lord. (Prayer, read scripture, meditate, journal) Or, Follow a study plan for specific topic or book.  Whether you follow along with a video series, book, or reading plan, knowing what you should read each day will help you have a more productive time with the Lord.  You will find that you learn more and reflect deeply about what you are reading. This is really helpful for those who find their mind wanders a lot when they try to study. Speaking of wandering minds....

4. Purge

When you get ready to spend time with God, purge your mind of the tasks and reminders that come up by writing it out before you sit down.  Doing this, will help your mind wander a little less and help you focus a little more.

5. BE CONSISTENT

So this hack is a little different because it not something you do immediately.  Instead it’s a pattern of behavior that you must develop to reap the benefits.  If you are consistent in your priority time, you will find that it's easier to sit with the Lord.  Your mind doesn't wander as much.  You have more wisdom and discernment.  You miss the time when you skip it.

6. LASTLY, YOU NEED AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER.

This person will help you with being consistent.  They will help you stay accountable with your quiet time, and challenge you in your walk with the Lord. It should be someone who is dependable and invested in your spiritual development

There you have it! 5 quick hacks to make your Quiet time a lot easier.  Now it's your turn.  Implement these hacks this week and see how your quiet time transforms.  You should find it more focused, more desired, and less forgettable.
